Caro’s Book of Poker Tells – Poker Book Review

Check out why we think Mike Caro’s Book of Poker Tells should be mentioned in our list of poker books.

Learning poker never stops, even the seasoned pro’s still learn new things every day. As the saying goes ‘it takes 5 minutes to learn poker, but a life time to master’. This made poker evolve throughout the generations and one of the reasons why it’s never too late to start learning today.

On this page we cover the essential elements to help you in the right direction. If you have no knowledge of poker whatsoever, you should start off with the poker hand rankings overview and the general rules of poker. Without a good understanding of these, it will be hard to develop any poker skills.

It’s unrealistic to think that you will be able to master poker within a single day, but that being said, it can be a fun journey learning all the ins and outs of poker. There are a lot of articles to read, cool poker video’s to watch, books to collect, TV shows and movies to watch and of course the rush poker generates throughout your entire body.

As you can see, poker isn’t just gambling, like many other games including blackjack (nowadays), roulette and slot machines. You can actually learn some skills and create poker strategies that are profitable in the long run. When playing any of the other mentioned games, you are always playing against the house (the casino dealer), that by definition has an edge on it’s customers (how else do they create stable revenue streams). Say the house has 5% edge on a game of Blackjack, that would mean that if you learn how to play the game perfectly, you will on average pay/lose $ 5 per hundred dollars bet to the house.

The difference with poker is you aren’t playing against the house, but against real human beings, who are capable of making mistakes. This changes the situation a lot and makes it a game you can learn and become profitable in. You can create situations where you have way more than a 5% edge on your (human) opponents, over and over again, just like a casino does with the aforementioned gambling games.

We hope this short text and all the content found in this learn poker section will help you on your way to learning the art of playing poker.
