The Showdown Poker Rules

The Showdown is the last phase of the game.  After all of the previous parts of the hand have taken place (Pre-flop, flop, turn and river) all players still in the hand must show their cards in order to try and win the pot.  The winner is the player with the best five card hand; this means a poker hand using five cards.

The five card hand can consist of the either or both of the cards in your hand plus two or three from the table, or neither of your hole cards but all five of the community cards.

If everybody in the hand is using the five community cards as their best hand then each of those players will win an equal share of the pot.

In the case of two or more players having the same hand at the showdown then the pot will be split evenly between them.  When there is an odd chip left in the pot it is given to the player closest to the left of the dealer button.

The hand is over once the winner/s has been decided and the chips have been awarded to the winning player/s.  After which point the dealer button is moved one place to the left and a new begins.

All cards are then shuffled (either by a dealer or the next player or automatically if online) and a new hand is dealt to everybody in the game.  If you’re playing online then you will know who is the dealer by looking for a round dealer button in front of a player.
