Welcome to the Live Poker section of PokerHarder UK. Live Poker refers to playing poker against players in real life rather than online. Live poker can be played anywhere from home games with your friends or family to dedicated card rooms and casinos. There are some noticeable differences between live poker and internet although the basic of the games are the same.
When playing live face to face poker you can often gather a of different information about what cards other players are holding. These are called tells for example if a player has been staring at their hole cards for longer than usual then it is quite likely they are holding a big hand like pocket aces or kings. Another possible sign of a very strong is if your opponents hands are trembling, this is most likely a result of the adrenaline running through their body. There are plenty of these kind of tells that you can pick up when playing live poker. With internet poker it is obviously a lot harder to get tells, although many believe you can still get tells from the amounts people bet, the speed at which they bet and chat boxes online.
Internet poker is has become more and more popular in recent years and this has in turn created a boom in players taking part in live poker that might have not played in casinos or card rooms before. Many live poker players now play online as well as it gives them the opportunity to play multiple tables at the same time and they can choose exactly what time of day they want to play, also you can play on your own at your computer in your underwear, we don’t recommend turning up to your local casino dressed like that. Some of the major live poker tournaments around the world have high buy ins like the World which has a $10,000 buy in, you can qualify for tournaments like these by playing online satellites and qualifiers from as little as $1 or sometimes even from freerolls!
